OCTOBER JOBS REPORT: ECONOMY ADDS 638,000 JOBS

Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 638,000 in October with the unemployment rate falling to 6.9%, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported Friday. The improvements reflect the continued comeback of economic activity that had been slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Share of New Homes with Decks Declines Again

Lack of Inventory, Higher Prices Push Housing Affordability Near Two-Year Low

Record-low mortgage rates were not enough to offset inventory shortages and rising home prices as housing affordability continued to decline in the third quarter of 2020, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)/Wells Fargo Housing Opportunity Index (HOI). Residential Construction Employment Is Higher Than a Year Ago

The recovery of overall labor market continued but at a slow pace. In October, 638,000 nonfarm payroll jobs were added, and the unemployment rate fell to 6.9%.
